Life Profile
Born in Hertza (Herţa), Romania, in 1932, after living through unimaginable horrors, Leah Kaufman, at the age of nine and a half, became the sole survivor of her parents and six siblings. In 1948, the Canadian Jewish Congress brought her to Canada where she continued her education, married, raised three sons, and became an exceptionally productive teacher and member of the Jewish community. In 1999 Leah and her husband Mark made aliyah to Israel where Leah is continuing her service to the Jewish community and to her family as grandmother of 22 and great-grandmother of 1.

Leah gives her presentations in English, Hebrew, Yiddish and/or Romanian.
Leah has spoken in Montreal and Toronto in Canada, in the United States in New York and also in Memphis where she was keynote speaker for the Jewish Communities Annual Holocaust Memorial Service.
In Jerusalem, Yad Vashem, Synagogues Yeshivot, Seminaries, and hotels, Aish HaTorah, Discovery, Birthright, Israeli Army and Air Force, Safed, Bet Shemesh, and Ashdod.
In June, 2007 Leah was honored as keynote speaker at the 67th annual commemoration of the Dorohoi pogrom by the Romanian Survivors of the Holocaust in Transnistria
In July, 2007 Leah was jointly brought to London, UK, by the Kinloss Learning Centre, Finchley Synagogue, and by Aish HaTorah, for a speaking tour. Leah spoke in seven Jewish schools. Leah was the keynote speaker on Erev Tisha B’av for Aish HaTorah, and for the Kinloss Learning Centre on Motzaei Tisha B’av.
In 2002 and 2004 Leah was brought to England for two, two weeks speaking tours
